50 Week Photo Challenge
I've been modeling for eight years (on and off). This year, decided to create a website I have full control of, really helped me to take my art and creations more seriously. A lot of the photographers I've worked with over the years ask for the same theme, or the same style, and eventually that gets tiring for an artist. I've always been one to do something myself if it was needed, so I decided to combine my modeling, costuming, and camera together to see what I can come up with. The best way to improve, is to study and actually practice, so I'm starting a challenge where I'll shoot every weekend. I'll shoot some pre-planned themes for 25 weeks, and then work my way backwards to see how I've improved in one year!
MOVEMENT AND FOCUS
I was shooting with a photographer friend (more on that through my ko-fi) who was a great help with shooting in manual. We went to Arbor Hills, where I'd pre-scouted some locations. Having the cranes in the forground was a challenge as the wind kept moving them around (sometimes in front of me or the fabric).
LAST WEEKEND
Last weekend I went out to Arbor Hills again with my husband to try to get some shots where the cranes weren't in the way as much. It was a different set of photos, but they were still lovely.
THIS WEEKEND
This weekend I had planned to go location scouting at some different parks in the area, but the rain has made flooding a risk. I may do an indoor challenge on Thursday instead.
Thus ends the first set in the fields. Looking at these photos after the weekend, I felt that there were too many cranes clustered to the left, and interfering with the background. I revisited the area with Bjorn the next weekend to see if I could get some better shots.
After shooting twice on manual I seem to have a good feel for light and exposure, but I’m still working on depth of field.
The next weekend
Preparing to toss some fabric up in the air, and waiting for cyclists to pass on the trail behind the tree…
